Western Hills Lodge
Last weekend we met up with David's family at Western Hills Lodge in Oklahoma. We had a great weekend visiting and catching up with all his family. David would go to Western Hills every year with his Grandparents when he was a boy. So it was fun for David to walk down memory lane.
Western Hills has a small Science/Nature Center on their campus with some animals...the kids loved it. This beaver... named "Chloe" was enjoying a snack.
Here is Lance (David's cousin) holding a Speckled Kingsnake for Corbin to touch. Corbin said, "I was a little scared at first, but the worker told me he doesn't bite!"
This little guy was a highlight. We got to visit with the possum twice while we were there. Her name was "Itsy Bitsy" and the Center has raised her since she was a baby. She was so sweet....EVEN Mama loved on her. Chloe kept calling her "Poss....Poss!"

This is David's cousin (Jennifer) the kids just adore her. Chloe saw this picture when we got home and kept pointing to it and saying, "Jenny, Jenny, Jenny!"
Here is Corbin and Grandpa as we are packing up and getting ready to leave.
Before we left we had time for Lance to take Corbin on one of the nature trails. He thought Lance was pretty cool.
Chloe, Jenny and I had time for some swinging. Below are a few pictures I couldn't leave out....what a great trip for some needed family time.

The kids had a great time playing with cousins and great cousins. They are excited to plan a trip back.
Here is Kaili (4) and Connor (2)....David's sisters kids. Kaili and Corbin play SO well together...they use their imagination and can play on their own ALL day...it is great. Corbin always misses Kaili for several days after they part.

Daddy's Birthday!
So Corbin had a great idea to cook Daddy breakfast for his birthday this morning! But first he HAD to dress the part. We made Daddy a "Corbin creation"....scrambled egg waffle sandwich with syrup. Those of you who know David...KNOW...that he gobbled it up. Corbin was so cute and so excited to surprise his Dad. He worked very hard.

As you can see, Daddy was SO surprised. Check out Corbin's face in the above picture....he is so proud of his work. There are 5 candles because Corbin is "5" and David is "35". It was a yummy start to a Happy Birthday!

Chloe has been singing "Happy Birthday" all day! Happy Birthday to the BEST Daddy in the whole wide world!
More Tutu Fun!
So my girlfriend and I have started making Tutu's for our baby girls! Here is the one I just made for Chloe! We are going to have a Tutu Party for friends and family and sell them. (we think?) I will post more "Prissy Pants" later.

Labor Day Weekend

We had a blast over Labor Day weekend~ Everyone was at Holly Lake. Mia, Corbin and Chloe had a great time playing together. Poppy even took all 3 grandkids to get donuts one morning by himself. He piled them all in the car and found the nearest donut place, and got them all out and went inside to find the donuts all gone. (church crowd) So he had to load (the confused and I want my donut) kids BACK into the car and find another donut place. He found one close by and unloaded again and finally got everyone settled with donuts. He sat down and Mia looked at him and said, "Poppy, I need to go potty"....and Chloe looked at him and said, "Poppy, hands!" Chloe's hands and face were covered with chocolate donuts and princess didn't like the mess. So Super Poppy took Mia to the Potty while he held the door open with his foot so he could keep an eye on Corbin and Chloe. He is really great with the kids and they all had a wonderful time.
We spent some time at the Ranch and Corbin had a big day. He shot his first 22 rifle. Now Poppy has talked to him about this for a while, and he was so excited and ready to be more like his Poppy. He asked me "how old do you have to be to get a hunting license?"
Poppy, as most of you know, is a complete stickler for gun safety and rules. (much to Mama's liking) So they went all over the rules and Corbin loves us to quiz him. I put him to bed the other night and he said, "Go ahead and ask me a rule about guns!" So I asked, "What if you see a gun at a friends house?" He said very proud, "I do not touch it, because it could really hurt me. I go find an adult and tell them that is dangerous!"

Rapid Fire was his favorite. He is focused.....he wanted to get that bullseye!

1st Day of School!
So Corbin started Advanced Pre-K this week! He is going to the same school he went to last year, so he was excited to go back. He loves that he gets to see his teachers from last year too!
Meet your teacher went well the week before and so he was ready to go. On the way to school he kept practicing his teachers names. He would say, "Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Jefferies....Mrs. Jefferies has the glasses...Mrs. Jefferies has the glasses." I told him it was okay, he would get the names down fast. :)
All the kids in his class will be 5 yrs. old by the end of September, so I was happy it was going to be an older group. After the first day of school he told me, "I am the best behaved kid in the class!" Well...we will see if that lasts!
His two best friends went to Kindergarten this year and so I was a little worried he would want to go too. But when someone asks him if he is in Kindergarten, he proudly says, "I am in Advanced Pre-K, and I will go to Kindergarten when I am 6!" Then he says, "Do you know I only go to school for 5 hours and when you are in Kindergarten you have to go 7 hours!"
I am excited to see him grow this year. Now....Miss Chloe is missing her brother. Everyday this week when we took Corbin to school, Chloe would say, "No school....no school!" She fusses when we leave and says, "BUBBA" in a whiney voice. She actually has a great day and plays nice while he is gone. We keep busy with Mommy & Me gym, running errands, and playdates... but she gets soooooo excited when I say, "let's go get bubba!" As soon as we enter the building she starts yelling his name, and when she sees him...she runs and gives him a big hug. I think Chloe is glad it is 5 hours and not 7 hours too! :)
