Moving up in Swimming

Now he is no Michael Phelps, but he is pretty close! :) Corbin is doing so great in swimming. He can swim about 20 feet on his own and is doing great with his dog paddling for breaths. The first couple weeks when they were learning to come up for a breath, Corbin would come up, but take no breath. It was cute....the teacher would tickle him and say,"BREATH!!!"
He loves his swimming class and he has come so far. (Corbin has been in swimming on and off since he was 3) This is a boy that was scared to go under water when he was 3 yrs old...now I am having to tell him to stay above water when the teacher is talking! :)

We are going to keep him in swimming this fall and he is so excited. He thinks it is "totally awesome" to go swimming in the winter. Corbin was moved up to the next level, so today he got a reward ribbon. Corbin thought that was pretty cool, after I explained what it was. You should of seen his face when the teacher gave him this ribbon. He was like, "what the heck is this thing?" He is used to big cool trophies from soccer and metals from Little Gym sports. So once I told him that a ribbon is cool like a trophy, he got into it!
Mr. Chirs is Corbin's teacher! Corbin thinks he is cool, because he gets to do cannon ball jumps with him. They are real good about safety at this school. From day one they taught the kids to jump in and swim to the nearest side. Last week they put life jackets on everyone and put them in a raft (boat) and talked about boat safety. The kids loved that...because the teachers dumped them over in the boat and talked about what to do. Corbin had a big smile on his face and loved when the big waves came and Mr. Chris would turn them over!

At the end of each class they get to go down the big water slide (behind Corbin)....another highlight of swim lessons. As you can tell by Corbin smile....it is "totally awesome!" We are so proud of our little swimmer.

Sunday Mornings

We have a bit of a routine on Sunday mornings. We wake up and getting ready and go to Church at 9:00 am. When Poppy and Mummy are in town we meet them at church. We have to get an extra "parent pass" for Poppy, so he can get back into the children's church to pick up the kids. The very first Sunday in our new building they wouldn't let him back because he didn't have this "parent pass." Well....for all of you who know our Poppy....that was not going to work. :)

This Sunday, Poppy peeked in the door to pick up Chloe and she jumped up and started waving like a crazy woman to Poppy. She was so happy to see him and that it was time for her release. Chloe is too fond of Sunday mornings. She is doing a lot better....she doesn't cry anymore like she used too. We say, "Chloe we are going to church and you are going to play!" Then she says, "Mama and Dada......Right...Back!" We go over this almost every Sunday. So needless to say, pick up time is her favorite time.

Corbin loves church. The music teacher came up to David this Sunday and told him that Corbin was such a leader during church. He helps lead during song time and he leads the prayer a lot on Sunday morning. I asked him about his prayers and he said...with his hands flying for description..."Well....you don't pray for webkinz or power rangers or toys and stuff like that....I just pray to have a good day at church and for friends and everyone to have a good time." It was so cute, but I am so proud of him.
Here is Miss Priss thinking she can sit at the table like a big girl!

Poppy and Chloe about to go on the golf cart! Poppy can't say "no" to that face! :)

So when Mummy and Poppy are in town we usually go to the club to eat. Dad scarfs down his breakfast because both of the kids are quickly ready for the Sunday Golf Cart Ride at the Club! They will drive around the golf path and look for birds to scare....all the while Chloe is saying, "Wee Wee!" They have a blast.....even though Poppy is probably hungry!

That is usually how Sunday mornings go. This Sunday after the golf cart ride, Corbin said, "Poppy, let's go look at golf stuff!" So they go in the Pro Shop and when we go check on them they have a shirt for David, Corbin has a glove, hat and a trainer golf club, and Corbin is still shopping around. He goes, "Mama, here is the girl section!" As he holds up a pink golf shirt. I said very politely...no thanks! :) I think he is going to be a shopper like his Poppy.

So on the way out we found some shade outside and played for 15 minutes. It is too hot right now....unless we are in water....15-20 minutes is all you can take!

Notice how carefully Corbin is listening to Poppy's instructions! He gave it a try anyway. I think he looks cute with his little golfing glove. It is Chloe's turn with the gold club....she is actually pretty athletic. Don't you know my baby girl who I can't wait to put a pair of dance shoes on is only going to want to play sports! That will be fine too! She has her hands out because Poppy was hitting a tennis ball with the golf club and she was trying to catch it!

We Conquered the BOARD!!

So we met Mom at the club to go swimming and there was a kids camp going on with bigger kids. Corbin loved to watch them jump off the diving board. (they were having big and little splash contests....remember those?)

Anyway...we asked Corbin several times if he wanted to FINALLY have a turn on the diving board. As always he would say, "YES" ..then we get close and he would change his mind.

So the camp kids left and there was really nobody in the pool, so I said .."come on bud, this is the perfect time to be brave!" What do you know...he loved it! I knew he would. He jumped off like 10 times. The very first time he jumped he went sooooo deep....I WAS NERVOUS. I had to dive down and pull him up. As you can see I was right there when he would jump in. He came up and said, "Wow...I went really far down and you can't even touch, Mama!" I told him to kick as hard as he could once he hit the water. After that he would just pop up. He was very proud of himself and I told him he should be and how it was great he was brave to try new things. Whomever he talked to that day he would say, "have you ever been swimming in 12 feet deep water? Well...I have!" Fun day!

Baby Girl is growing up!

So we had a big day yesterday morning!!!...........................I painted Chloe's toenails for the first time! :) I was unprepared that she would want me to paint her toes so young (19 months) so I did not have an appropriate nail polish available. But as you know I jumped at the chance to make my baby girl more girly! :) (Note to self....go and buy baby girl her first baby pink polish.)

She had so much fun! I was painting my toes and she comes in and sits down and says, "Chlo Chlo's turn?" So I painted and she didn't move a muscle and I said don't touch and held her toes and said, "SO PRETTY!"....while I blew them dry! She ran to her brother and said, "don't touch....pretty!" Corbin didn't miss a beat and said, "Oh...what a big girl...so pretty!"
Chloe and Mama with matching polish!!

I think Mummy is the most excited, because she can take Chloe and have a spa day! What a fun day to have my baby girl!

Chloe is painting her toes and Mama's toes with the pretend nail polish!

Happy 5th Birthday, Corbin!

Well...we had a busy weekend but we couldn't forget to have a big celebration for Corbin's Big 5 year old birthday! Sunday was his actual birthday so we had his party that day at the Little Gym. This is where he takes "karate"....so we had a Power Ranger/Karate party. He invited several friends and had a great time.

Corbin is ready for some action! He loved his Power Ranger Cake. The Red Ranger is his favorite.

Chloe and Mia had fun too! Softy swords was the favorite activity for all! Bones was hitting kids and Mom said, "Chad you are not suppose to hit the children!" Chad said, "Well...he hit me first!" Too Funny!

My big girl...who is starting to LOVE the camera...she stayed with Poppy most of the party.Below they are giving Corbin a Happy Birthday Ride on the parachute. He loved the "THIS IS MY DAY" attitude. When someone said, "Can I have a turn?" Corbin said, "No, sorry...only for the birthday boy!" This morning it was a reality check when I said, "Birthday is over bubba!"We came in for cake and I asked the boys "who can sing the loudest?" Well that was a bad idea....because it was too loud for Corbin. We had a bit of a meltdown, but he recovered quickly! He was up so late the night before watching fireworks.....maybe Mama should plan the birthday party on a different weekend next year!:)

Miss Chloe thought she was a big kid at the party. Check out Poppy's face below....this is a man that was stuck in the airport for 12 hours with no sleep...but he made it to Corbin's party! YEAH...it was close.

Happy Birthday Corbin~ We love you!!!!

7th Annual Sugarbush Block Party

So we don't mind to say....we think we live on a pretty Amazing street. Now it is not Sesame Street but you can come and play on Sugarbush Trail and always have a good time! Allen has a firework show the weekend before the 4th and you can see them at the end of our cul-de-sac, so it is a perfect time to block off the street and have a party!

It started out as a really hot day and right as we were about to eat it started to rain. So we all ran into different houses to eat. If you were at my house you were well protected by super heroes. :)

Power Ranger: Alex Red Spider Man: Ryan Black Spider Man: Corbin Bat Girl: Kaili (she could hang with the boys!)

The rain didn't last long...we actually were pretty lucky...it was raining all around us. The weather turned very pleasant. The kids played in the street, rode bikes, silly spray string, stomp splash rocket, water guns, glow in the dark necklaces and saw great fireworks! The adults had fun, fellowship, adult beverages, basketball, washer game and were able to watch the joy on their kids faces.Silly string was fun! That stuff goes fast so watch out behind you! If you were looking for Emma, you knew right where to look. She loved that water table. As you can see...Avery loved it too! :)
Sweet friends....Jenny and Courtney! Their little girl Avery loved Kaili and followed her around. You can see those dark clouds in the background. David even finished cooking our burgers in the rain. What a guy! My sweet friend Christen who takes care of my kids like her own. Chloe is chowing down on Christen's homemade chocolate ice cream that Miss Kathy made!

Newest Sugarbush Crew Member....Danny and Heather's little girl Ashtyn! Then below Chloe saying CHEESE with some leftover chocolate ice cream on her chin.

This happens almost every time we take a picture together. The 3 Mommies are first and then you will see the 3 baby girls. We are in the same order....CRAZY....but it happens all the time! Jenny, Carrie and Christen.....................Avery, Chloe and Emma

Corbin couldn't find his shoes when it was time to head down to the end of the street for fireworks...no worries...Ben was there to save the day! Look at Corbin's face...he just saw the first firework of the night.

Courtney (a Texas Tech guy) can't believe he is sitting in an OU chair! (hence the guns) But when you are near David that is about all you get...OU chairs...OU hats...OU shirt...OU coozies. Corbin and Mama watching fireworks....my baby boy who is 5!!!!!!!! All the kids crashed after this...Corbin said, "Mama, I want to go STRAIGHT to bed!" What a fun night as usual. Happy 4th of July!
